Offering 1-1 and small group coaching, through to club coaching support, coaching workshops, clinics and camps, we will work with and inspire you to reach for and achieve your potential.
1-1 COACHING SESSIONSMembers and non members of TRIbal Triathlon may book a single or series of 1-1 coaching sessions covering any area of open water swimming, or multi sport swim, bike, run and transition training. As well as the stunning lake at Vobster Quay, we have access to suitable quiet country roads, and epic climbs around Cheddar Gorge for biking and 'closed road' and trail run routes. We also have our own transition racking for race simulation work. Whether you are completely new and want an introduction to open water swimming and/or triathlon or are an experienced athlete seeking results 1-1 coaching sessions with TRIbal Triathlon will build your confidence and improve your performance.
BESPOKE TRAINING PROGRAMMES & COACHINGTRIbal Triathlon can offer a range of 1-1 bespoke training and coaching support. This type of coaching is designed to specifically support those wishing to progress to the next level of performance and who want to maximise training time and performance enhancement.
EVENT-SPECIFIC TRAINING PLANSA cheaper option than bespoke coaching is to purchase a TRIbal Triathlon event specific training plan. Although these plans are more generic than a bespoke plan, they offer you a progressive session by session, week by week training programme building towards your key event. Plans are available for first time novice triathlon, Sprint Distance, Standard Distance, Middle Distance and Iron Distance Triathlon. In addition, swim only specific plans are available for First time milers through to 5 and 10km swim distances. Each plan has advice on training intensities and conditioning for injury prevention.
SMALL GROUP COACHING SESSIONSAs with the 1-1 coaching, we can accommodate small group coaching. For this shared approach to work, small groups need to be of a similar ability level or have shared training/coaching objectives for a session.
CLUB COACHING SESSIONS & SUPPORTIf your Club or team doesn't have access to coaching or if you would like further specialist input/support that works with your Club coaches, TRIbal Triathlon can offer coaching sessions, clinics and mini training events to support your Club/team and members development. TRIbal Triathlon at Vobster Quay is headed up by performance coach Richard Smith.An MSc Sports Science and Coaching post graduate, Richard has over 20years experience of working and coaching in elite sports programmes, including 10 years heading up England Cricket's Sports Science and Medicine programme and as a conditioning coach, sports scientist and sport and remedial massage therapist. Richard?s involvement in Triathlon and Open Water swimming started as part of a development project over 20 years ago, as the first sighted guide to paralympic /paratriathlon athlete Tim Reddish. Since then he has raced around the world over all distances up to Ironman, and coached/tutored on numerous training camps, coaching workshops and seminars. Based in the South West region for the past 5 years, Richard has helped to establish and coach with two triathlon clubs (Trowbridge Hot Chilli Tri / Frome Tri Club) local to Vobster Quay. He has also established and event directed a series of high quality open water swimming and triathlon events at Vobster Quay, and currently writes on open water swimming/triathlon for Triathlon Plus magazine and Get Into Swimming publications. Richard's extensive coaching and racing knowledge, experience and expertise covers all age groups and from complete novice through to elite performance. He has a flexible and adaptable approach to coaching and skill development and is constantly seeking new ways to enhance performance. Richard coaches across all three disciplines of triathlon (swim, bike and run), and all aspects of open water swimming from safe introduction to the open water swimming environment through to advanced training plans, event preparation and 'race craft/strategy'. As a sports scientist, conditioning coach and sports therapist Richard can also offer an 'holistic' package of advice, coaching and support at all levels.
